My Goal As Your Teacher
My goal for our classroom is to create an innovative, inspiring, and collaborative work place for each and every student. I have flexible seating in my classroom and believe that every child can find a place that initiates creativity and their best productivity. Students will learn that a fail is a First Attempt In Trying and that we will grow from our mistakes to become better learners. I hope to build a community within our classroom that is a safe space for students to take risks, think critically, and explore new strategies. Lastly, my goal in the classroom is to make sure every student is having so much fun that they forget they are learning!
Classroom Expectations
In our classroom we are building a community where every student has a place to learn at their best. With that in mind we have a few expectations for each student to follow.
Believe in Yourself
Listen, Think, & Learn
Raise your Hand
Be Respectful, Responsible, & Safe
Keep Hands, Feet, & Objects to Yourself
Be Honest & Helpful
Speak Kind Words
Work Hard & Never Give Up
At our school we believe in restorative practice if students are unable to follow the rules. This means that if a student is unable to comply by the rules then we will work together with the student or students that are involved to come together to create a solution.
Homework Expectations
Students will be sent home every Friday with a Friday folder. This Friday folder will contain contents from the week: math work, projects, high frequency word work, and letter work. It will also have a homework folder which contains: news sent home from the school, a new Read It Read It list for students to work on at home, a reading log, new letter and sound for the upcoming week, and the sharing for the upcoming week. *The homework folder should be returned by every Thursday! *Friday folders need to be returned empty on Monday! (If your child forgets then please have it returned the following day.)
Tardiness or Absences
Our classroom supports the school's policy on being tardy. There is a first bell at 7:55am and the second bell at 8:00am. If you arrive after the second bell then you are tardy and need to get a slip form the office before coming to class. If your student is absent and you would like to email me the reason why feel free. Students who miss certain class work will have time in the following days to make things up, but if a student is absent for more than 4 days please ask for a packet to be sent home. I am more than willing to put together packets of work for students that will miss if they are going out of town for an extended amount of time. Please let the school know before hand so I can make those arrangements. *PLEASE remember that attendance is SUPER important for your child's learning!
Birthdays
We LOVE to celebrate each and every child's birthday! Here are a few things to follow.
Please do not bring in treats. We love that you want to share baked goods but we want to focus on healthy eating and we do not want students to have a sugar crash during the day.
Instead we invite you to have your student choose a book to donate to our class. This will be known as their "Birthday Book". You can write a little note inside of it to your child or your child can write to the class. We will read this book together and then place it in our library for everyone to enjoy!
